About
My name is Ivie and I am 29 years old. I started this company along side my business partner, best friend, and beautiful mom.
My interest in health and nutrition started when I was 21, as a distance runner at Utah Valley University. As many people know distance runners are usually thinner built and have little to no excess fat. I had gained about 15 lbs. my freshman year and another 5 my sophomore year. This was really slowing down my running, to the point where one week I didn’t make the varsity travel team. I was devastated and didn’t know what to do. I had been dieting and trying everything in the books when it came to “fad” diets. Now, I know gaining 20 lbs. from a teenager to a woman is normal by any means, but for a runner, who was running 15 miles a day, I was confused and frustrated. I was working out so much, how was it possible that I was gaining weight? At the end of my sophomore year I decided I wanted to change, I wanted to be the best on my team, not barely just making the travel team, so I spent hours and hours researching, and I discovered, there is no easy fix and there is no overnight cure. I had to change my lifestyle, my eating habits, and work hard to create the change I wanted to see.
The process took 4 months. I changed the way I viewed food completely. I ate for energy, for health, and not just to become skinny. I figured if I’m going to be this weight, I might as well be strong. Every day I had a protein shake or smoothie from our menu. I would research new foods that not only process in your body to give you loads of energy and make you beautiful from the inside out, but those were also powerful healing foods. I would experiment with different whole foods and create concoctions, some delicious and some not so much. I began to get excited for my daily smoothie and began to gain more energy and lose weight.
I lost 19 lbs. in 3 months. Yes 3 months, not one week or one month, but three. And you know what? I kept it off, and I felt good during the process, each week feeling better and better. No there are no quick fix or summer bod moments, there is lifestyle change and only we can be the agents of change for ourselves.
I then moved to California for about 5 months after my sophomore year just for a change of scenery. I discovered fresh juice while I was there. I would order a fresh juice before my work out each morning and make a protein shake as soon as I got home from the gym. I’ve never felt better in my life. Over those five months in California I lost another 11 lbs. The weight isn’t what matters to me in this story though. What matters is how it made me feel. It changed my life. I came back to run my junior year at UVU. I beat a school record, became the captain of my team and was the fastest distance girl at UVU. I ran a 16.58 5k (dropping my personal record by almost 45 seconds). Which if you’re a runner, you know that’s a lot. I felt so accomplished, confident, pretty, and most importantly happy. The best part is I worked hard for what I accomplished.
I felt so good; I wanted everyone to feel the way I felt. I wanted other people to be healthy and happy like me. The only thing I had changed in my life was the food I put into my body; this is where the juice bar began.
I was talking to my mom about how I wanted to share this with other people. I told her my idea of taking all my recipes and starting a juice bar. She loved the idea and immediately wanted to be a part of the whole thing and get going on it. Before I knew it we were looking for places to rent. We found our Provo location the first day we went out looking and knew it was perfect. My Mom (Nancy) has been the driving force behind the business. She is the hardest working lady I have ever met. Without her we wouldn’t be where we are today. She really is the brains behind the operation. And has even contributed largely to the menu, creating most juices found on our classic and advanced menus.
We now have three locations all inspired by sharing my healthy lifestyle. My Dad is now full time with the company as well as my brother and sister. Ivie Juice bar is a family owned and operated business. All of our juice is cold pressed and bottled in glass to keep optimal nutrition. We don’t use syrups, or fake sweeteners. Everything is made with whole fresh real ingredients.
We hope that we can share our passion of health with you. We believe health starts with food, and we believe health can start here at Ivie Juice Bar.
